How Can I Help?

Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry completely relies on help from others to stock the pantry and serve neighbors in need. There are many ways to help. We welcome your time and talents, financial resources, and food donations.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are vital to our mission. Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry depends on volunteers to operate. Consider being part of a team.

If you are interested in volunteering in an environment that likes to have fun, while showing compassion for others, we are recruiting volunteers.  We are seeking volunteers for the following:

Stocking – This position is crucial for ensuring our pantry guests have access to the food they need by stocking shelves in our dry goods, cooler, or freezer area. You will also assist in receiving donations as needed, including sorting donated produce. Should be able to lift at least 30 pounds. We need regular help on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays between 8:30-11:30 AM.

Outside Greeter – This position works primarily outside managing the parking lot, coordinating the order and number of clients allowed into the pantry at any given time. This position may also be called on to assist clients loading groceries into their vehicles. Should be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

Food Pantry Host – This position works primarily indoors greeting our clients, answering questions, and guiding them through the pantry as they shop. Volunteers should be familiar with the layout of the pantry; the shopper guidelines, and a general sense of what products are available. Clients will receive easy-to-follow guidelines on the amount of food and personal care items available to them based on their family size. Role involves frequent standing and walking.

Bagger – Assist clients in bagging their groceries, weighing their groceries and help load their groceries into their vehicle. Should be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
